Best Sign Systems, a Company to Watch
April 22, 2009
We are happy to share that Best Sign Systems was recognized with distinction among privately-held, growth-focused companies, as a Colorado Company to watch. This year, more than 250 companies were nominated for consideration to represent the state and 50 were chosen as winners.
The Companies to Watch awards program was developed by the Edward Lowe Foundation in recognition of those companies that are enriching communities and creating jobs and opportunities for many Colorado families.
We are honored to be recognized with this distinction and look forward to serving the members of our community.

Green Product Benefits
Graphic Blast - Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certified
Best Sign Systems is committed to products and manufacturing processes that address green construction requirements and contribute to a more sustainable future. Over 50% of Best Sign Systems’ sold products are composed of recycled and rapidly renewable materials. We invite you to consider our Graphic Blast MP product when specifying a LEED building.
About LEED
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System ® provides a national standard for what constitutes a “green building.” Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, it is used as a measurable tool to improve occupant well being and environmental sustainability.
LEED Rating Systems classify entire building projects and are based on numerous categories including Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, and Energy & Atmosphere. Individual building materials may contribute to categories such as Materials & Resources, Environmental Quality, and Innovation & Design. High-pressure laminates used by BEST Sign Systems can contribute to the following credits under the LEED Rating System, Version 2.1 and the LEED Rating System for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI).
Materials and Resources:
Resource Reuse - Credit 3.1 and 3.2 (2 points possible)
Due to their durability and long life cycle, the solid phenolic laminates and high -pressure decorative laminate components can be salvaged and reused in new construction or building renovation.
Local/Regional Materials - Credit 5.1 and 5.2 (2 points possible)
Building products “manufactured” within a 500-mile radius of a project meet this requirement. “Manufacturing” is defined as the place of final assembly. Since the high-pressure laminates must be fabricated and/or assembled, they will likely qualify as a local/regional material.
Rapidly Renewable Materials - Credit 6 (1 point possible)
High-pressure laminates are engineered to perform successfully in component panels manufactured with rapidly renewable substrates including wheatboards and strawboards.
Indoor Environmental Quality
Low Emitting Materials - Credit 4.5 (1 point possible)
The high-pressure decorative laminates are GREENGUARD INDOOR AIR QUALITY CERTIFIED products that have demonstrated low chemical and particulate emissions.
Raw Materials
- The construction of the laminate product is composed chiefly of resin and paper products
- Raw material suppliers maximize postindustrial recycled materials in their processes. For instance, our suppliers only use renewable forest products and are actively planting more trees than are harvested to create the paper pulp. No rain forest timber or tropical hardwoods are used in laminate.
- In the supplied paper products, there is approximately 40% recovered paper by weight.
- Many suppliers are involved in programs to certify that their supplied products are environmentally responsible. For instance, Westvaco (supplier of kraft paper) has been awarded the National Geographic Society’s Chairman’s Award for Resource Conservation and Education.
- Our products do not contain, nor are they manufactured with, ozone-depleting substances.
Manufacturing
- Most solid wastes that can be recycled are sold to other industries and used off site.
- Water used in manufacturing for cooling purposes is recycled.
- Heat from the incineration of laminate dust (from sanding) and the incineration of fumes released during resin treatment of paper are used to produce steam for the manufacturing plant that has substantially reduced energy use.

ImPressions! Perfect for Schools
July 23, 2008

This new ada technology provides for a virtually indestructable, ada sign. No attached letters, graphics or braille to be picked off by curious passers-by. The end product is a single piece sign thermoformed from an engineered, impact-resistent thermoplastic. Durability without sacrificing design flexibility. Integral surface-texturing formed during the manufacturing process provides for an innovative look offering slate, stipple or matte textures that resist fingerprints and excessive handling that would otherwise damage the sign and compromise the brand of the facility.
School administrators love it because it offers a uniquely tailored appearance and low replacement costs.

- The contemporary and upscale look of green-edge glass with many times the durability of glass
- The sign is formed in a single, nearly indestructible piece which means it can withstand high-traffic environments such as Hotels, Hospitals and Universities.
